Job Summary

At Distributed Bio (a Charles River company), our mission is to define a new paradigm in revolutionary bioengineered medicines for the biotechnology industry. In monoclonal therapeutics, our integration of computational immunology, bioengineering and robotics has enabled us to create a pipeline of molecules with unprecedented biophysical properties, while also supporting all of our partners with developable antibodies against any drug target of interest.

Our ability to discover antibodies against challenging pMHC, pathogen toxin, GPCR and Ion Channel targets, as well as a novel high-throughput discovery of CAR-T, has resulted in the growth of our antibody discovery business.

We are seeking to recruit a candidate with relevant hands-on experience in mammalian protein expression, purification and analytics for the position of Research Scientist in the Protein Science department. This role will support the generation of quality recombinant proteins and panels of lead antibodies to support our client programs across all therapeutic areas.

Main responsibilities
  • Expression and purification of protein molecules including antibodies, antibody fragments, Fc fusions
  • Protein characterization with SDS-PAGE, HPLC-SEC MALS and Endotoxin measurements
  • Data interpretation and generation of data packages with expression, purification and analytical data
  • Co-ordination with project management and project leaders to deliver timely contribution to client project updates


Job Qualifications

Key requirements
  • BSc or MSc in Biology, Biochemistry, or a related field with 1-2 years of relevant laboratory based experience with either protein expression and purification
  • Working knowledge of protein expression in mammalian system including Expi293 cells
  • Experience with AKTA System and Unicorn software is preferred
  • Strong communication Skills (written and oral) and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Good organization skills with strong attention to details
  • Working knowledge of protein expression in insect and E.coli platforms for recombinant protein expression
  • Working knowledge of standard molecular biology procedures - for example vector design and engineering, PCR, cloning and mutagenesis techniques
