The role

This position is based within the School of Psychological Science at the University of Bristol, for the project PRODEMINFO: Protecting the Democratic Information Space in Europe . The project involves nodes in Austria and Germany in addition to the UK. The project is led by Professor Stephan Lewandowsky in Psychology at the University of Bristol. The project is funded by an ERC Advanced Grant and aims to gain a greater understanding of people's perception of truth in an age rife with fake news and conspiracy theories. The research will more clearly identify the scale and subject matter of this so-called 'infodemic', which involves issues such as anti-vaccination misinformation and disregard for other protective health measures during the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as hate speech.

The role of the Senior Research Administrator is to coordinate the administration for a research project. The role will provide administrative support for the associated research group and executive support for a senior academic, undertake budget monitoring, organise and support a range of internal and external events, design and prepare a range of documents and publicity material, as well as other tasks required in the provision of professional support service.

What will you be doing?

Tasks will include (in approximate order of priority):

• Ensure that all local, funder and project partner reporting is completed and submitted on time.

• Maintain accurate financial records and audit trails, using appropriate methods and University systems. Identify gaps in finance information, and search for sources of information to fill these. Regularly report any anomalies to the relevant Manager.

• Proactive liaison with relevant internal partners on public engagement and data management.

You should apply if

• Proven administrative experience working in busy and demanding environments.

• Experience in research administration, a good working knowledge of University systems, and an ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

• Excellent IT Skills, including web content management systems and general office systems. Able to manage information electronically through databases and spreadsheets, such as budgets.

• Able to work under pressure; to produce accurate work to deadlines, with excellent attention to detail.

• Excellent organisational skills along with flexibility and initiative, able to prioritise own work and manage changing priorities as part of a diverse, busy workload.

• Experience of working autonomously with little supervision, responding independently and dealing with unforeseen problems and circumstances.
