Each Freshman and Sophomore Inquiry course is based on a theme and includes three sections of a Mentored Inquiry Workshop facilitated by a trained peer mentor. Faculty are responsible for actively mentoring and collaborating with their peer mentors to design a scaffolded curriculum that supports student success. In addition to their inquiry focus and interdisciplinary scope, University Studies courses are writing intensive.

Freshman Inquiry is a 15 credit, year-long cohort, first-year seminar where students form learning communities to engage in collaborative assignments, experiential and community-based learning, undergraduate research, and the development of learning portfolios. Upon completion, students will have earned four credits each of 100-level Social Science, Arts & Humanities, and Natural Science as well as 3 credits of Writing 121.

We are looking for faculty who model intellectual passion and curiosity because they believe in the fundamental aspiration of higher education to prepare people to improve the world.
