Contributes to two of the three missions of OHSU School of Nursing: teaching (all), and either practice, or research; specific activities and responsibilities are based on rank. Faculty members are also expected to participate in service to the school, including student advising, and generation of scholarship.

1.Clinical Activities: Plans and supervises student lab and/or clinical experiences or practice based on teaching assignment.
2.Scholarly Activitie: Engages in professional activities related to interest and expertise and participates in scholarly productivity that meets the school's promotion and tenure requirements by faculty rank. For faculty in the practice mission, demonstrates competence in an area of clinical expertise and engages in inquiry and scholarship that contributes to the practice of clinical practice. For faculty in the research mission, advances a program of research, prepares grants and seeks funding, and engages with other missions to foster inquiry within the SON.
3.Education Activities: Provides effective didactic instruction based on teaching assignment. Uses appropriate instructional technologies to ensure that course outcomes are met. Participates collaboratively in the development, implementation, and evaluation of curriculum. Mentors and advises students. At the doctoral level, supervises students in dissertation and/or clinical inquiry projects.
4.Service Activities: These activities could include faculty meetings, committee membership, professional activities and other responsibilities as assigned by the Program or Academic Director. Participates in faculty governance and provides leadership in local, state, or national organizations.
5.Administrative Activities: As negotiated.
6.Other Activities: The appointee shall provide services as assigned by the supervisor in furtherance of the university's missions and goals of teaching, research, patient care, outreach and public service.

  • Bachelors and Master's degrees in nursing required.
  • Oregon RN license and current AHA CPR card required. (Current licensure & certifications could be required depending on position and academic program.)
  • At least 3 years' nursing experience required.

  • Earned doctorate in nursing preferred.
  • At least 1 year of experience teaching preferred.
