Job Description/Summary:
Reporting to the Associate Dean of Clinical Education, the Residency Director is responsible for all aspects of SCNM's Residency Program, including management, curriculum development, programmatic assessment, and growth.

Working closely with campus administration and affiliate site directors, the Residency Director ensures the program offers and improves its robust post-graduate medical educational experience. The Residency Director is responsible for ensuring the onsite and affiliate site programs meet accreditation standards, the graduate's needs, and the profession. The department supports SCNM's Strategic plan areas of:
  • Sustainability and Resilience
  • Optimizing the Academic Experience, and
  • Patient Services
The Residency Director is directly responsible for the following:
  • Oversees the SCNM Residency Program at both onsite Centers and at SCNM affiliate sites
  • Maintains SCNM's status as a Council of Naturopathic Medical Education (CNME) accredited Sponsor of Residency Programs
  • Works with the CNME to improve the standards for post-graduate naturopathic medical education
  • Oversees SCNM on-campus residents including hiring and onboarding
  • Continually assesses and enhances the Residency curriculum
  • Builds and maintains positive relationships with new and existing community partners
  • Grows and develops the Residency Program to meet the needs of SCNM
  • Prepares and submits the Residency Program budget for approval and manages the approved budget
  • Participates in a culture of continuous improvement, collaborative leadership, and strategic planning activities

  • Performs other duties as assigned

  • Working knowledge of conflict resolution and mediation principles and techniques
  • Ability to engage professional or public individuals or groups with tact, diplomacy, and poise.
  • Proficiency with MS Office products; familiarity with the Canvas LMS (preferred, not required).
Education Requirements:
  • A masters level degree in healthcare or health sciences; a doctoral level (or appropriate terminal) clinical degree from an accredited institution is strongly preferred
  • Ability to meet criteria for appointment at the level of Assistant Professor or above: - Demonstrated excellence in teaching, leadership and evidence of scholarly activity.
  • Any combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge and abilities.

Working Environment

Activities are generally performed in an environmentally controlled office / home office setting subject to extensive periods of sitting, keyboarding and manipulating a computer mouse. Regular activities require ability to quickly change priorities, which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts. Frequent communication using various media and technologies are required to perform essential functions.

Background/Screening:

All candidates offered a position at SCNM undergo a background and drug screen prior to hire. All employees must show documentation of vaccinations or provide titer results for measles prior to first day of work (unless religious or medical exemption is on file). Employment is contingent upon satisfactory outcome of all screens required of this position.
