We are an internationally recognized research group located in New York City seeking an Ultrasound Research Engineer to support and collaborate on ongoing innovative projects and ultimately develop new research areas in biomedical ultrasound and related fields. Riverside Research is seeking a full time-time Biomedical Ultrasound Postdoctoral Researcher in the New York, NY area. This position will support currently funded NIH projects as well as some IR&D projects related to medical applications of ultrasound. The Research Engineer will be responsible for advancing projects in various states of maturity including acquiring data, analyzing data, and presenting results in peer-reviewed papers and scientific conferences.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Support several NIH-funded and IR&D projects related to medical applications of ultrasound and in projects using quantitative ultrasound (QUS) or high-frequency ultrasound (HFU) data
  • Plan collection and analysis of experimental data
  • Analyze and summarize data.
  • Generate reports.
  • Prepare manuscripts for peer-reviewed journals.
  • Perform literature searching and information gathering.
  • Maintain dialogue with outside collaborators.
  • Present findings at scientific conferences.
  • Implement enhancements to experimental systems and data processing tools
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
  • U.S. Citizenship.
  • Recent PhD in Electrical Engineering or closely related field (i.e., graduated no earlier than 2018).
  • Expertise programming with MATLAB, LabVIEW or other scientific programming languages.
  • Technical writing skills as evidenced by peer-reviewed publications.
  • First-author publication in peer-review journal with impact factor greater than 2.
  • Knowledge of medical imaging including biomedical ultrasound physics.
  • Critical thinking, problem-solving skills and ability to solve problems to the end.
  • Ability to develop new instrumentation including data acquisition, parts fabrication. and system control via high-level user interfaces.
  • Experience presenting research results at scientific conferences.
  • Evidence of collaborative research skills (communication, team building, conflict resolution etc.)
  • Ability to develop new research collaborations.
Desired Qualifications:
  • Machine learning experience.
  • Knowledge of ultrasound blood flow imaging methods (i.e., Doppler)
  • Experience with Vantage ultrasound systems.
  • CAD/CAM related parts fabrication.
  • Critical thinking and ability to identify inconsistencies in results.
  • Transducer design and fabrication.
  • Strong image and signal processing skills.
  • Proficient using standard laboratory equipment (oscilloscopes, etc.).
  • Experience with small-animal experiments using ultrasound.
  • Knowledge and experience with photoacoustic instrumentation.
  • Experience modelling ultrasound transducers with FEM software.
  • Knowledge and experience with high-speed plane-wave ultrasound imaging.
