SON faculty members who have advanced practice specialization (nurse-midwife) may function in all of the missions of the School. Scholarly teaching is an expectation for all. The faculty member must be nationally certified and state licensed. If practice is a part of the FTE assignment, the faculty member must also be credentialed and privileged as a member of the OHSU Professional Staff in accordance with the specialty bylaws. The faculty member will provide services as determined by the Associate Dean for Practice Graduate and Clinical Programs in furtherance of the universitys missions and goals of teaching, research, patient care, outreach and public service. Faculty members in the clinical series are also expected to participate in service to the school appropriate to rank, including student mentoring and/or advising. The advanced practice faculty member is expected to comply with scope of practice, other laws, regulations, OHSU and SON policy, and other applicable professional standards of practice.

Function/Duties of Position

1. Clinical Activities: Practice that emanates from the School of Nursing is expected to support the teaching, practice and research missions of the School. In the practice environment, teaching occurs concurrently with clinical activities.

Specific duties include: The primary expectation is the provision of clinical midwifery services to patients in the faculty practice in both the clinic and in the inpatient setting (L&D, MBU) and during both day and night shifts.

2. Scholarly Activities (research/writing, abstracts, grant supported work, presentations, etc.): Participates in scholarly activities based on faculty rank.

3. Education Activities: Clinical education and supervision of graduate nurse-midwifery students (and other students as approved by the practice manager) in the provision of the services to patients in faculty practices. Midwifery students are with on call faculty 90% of the time. Mentors and advises students.

4. Service Activities: These activities could include faculty meetings, committee membership, professional activities and other responsibilities as assigned by the Program or Academic Director. Participates in faculty governance; additional engagement based on rank.

5. Administrative Activities: As negotiated.

6. Other Activities: The appointee shall provide services as assigned by the supervisor in furtherance of the universitys missions and goals of teaching, research, patient care, outreach and public service.

Required Qualifications

Master's degree in nursing

ACNM or ACC certification as a nurse-midwife required. Oregon RN license, nursemidwifery

license and current CPR and NRP card required.

Three years of clinical practice experience required

Preferred Qualifications

Doctorate preferred

Teaching experience at baccalaureate level or higher preferred.
