The Engineer will perform production data analytics and apply continuous improvement strategies to improve processes, increase product yields and, reduce cost and cycle times.

Job Responsibilities
- Works with Operations, Engineering and EHS during preparation of master batch records (MBR), running the process, reviewing the results and suggesting process changes as necessary
- Identifies and monitors important process metrics such as, yield, cycle time, productivity, and throughput; analyzes product non-conformance issues.
- Observes processes to identify improvements; develops metrics and strategies for process improvements
- Generates post production campaign review of processes to understand the causes of variances
- Communicates the campaign review data to process stakeholders and organizes the suggested changes to the batch records for process improvement and seeks approval for timely revision of the document in accordance to company policy.
- Edits and scales batch records as directed by Operations, R&D, Engineering or the Scheduling department
- Oversees and troubleshoots production processes and provides guidance to chemical operators
- Briefs chemical operators on new processes and debriefs operators to understand any issues on completion of the process
- Assists in scale up from Pilot Plant to larger scale production and troubleshoots technical aspects during all phases of the transition to production scale
- Proposes engineering projects for Safety, Environmental, Quality or Capacity Utilization improvements; works with design engineering to execute and implement the improvement projects in production
- Assists in developing short term and long term capital project planning
- Partners with EHS personnel and other engineers in Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) of new and existing processes, as part of companys PSM and RMP programs
- Develops Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and generates Management of Change (MOC) document for process/equipment changes in accordance with PSM requirements
- Assists operations leadership in training of personnel, particularly around complex unit operations.
Experience
- Preference will be given to those who have an advanced degree and good understanding of the fundamentals of chemical engineering including, material and energy balance, fluid dynamics, heat transfer, mass transfer, thermodynamics and mixing phenomena
- Ability to understand Process Flow Diagrams and P&IDs is required
- Experience with the following processes is preferred: filtration, distillation, and batch reaction is preferred
- Good understanding of organic, inorganic and physical chemistry is desirable
- Six sigma and statistical analysis experience preferred
- Working knowledge of process automation is desirable
- Experience in statistical software, such as, JMP or Minitab is preferred
