What You Will Achieve

Pfizer is making significant investment in the creation of novel, first-in-class therapeutics, by combining internal discovery and validation of drug targets with external partnerships to produce clinical drug candidates for the Pfizer pipeline. This position is within Emerging Sciences Biology (ESB) group in Target Sciences (TS). Target Sciences has expertise in human genetics, functional genomics, automated analytic capabilities and data management, and target validation biology. Target Sciences works together within Pfizer broader External Science & Innovation group to deliver a broad and deep pipeline of drug candidates, based on emerging science in the academic world.

The primary responsibility of the newly created Emerging Science Biology team is to play a driving role in addressing the critical task, identified as a gap, of rejuvenating the WRD pipeline with innovative, differentiated First-In-Class/ Only-In-Class programs in the years to come. This will be addressed by generation of strong data packages from target hypotheses derived from academic outreach and initiatives incl. ITENs, from human genetics, functional genomics and data mining to enable the initiation of new CTI and RU projects.

The candidate will support the development of molecular, biochemical, and cell-based assays for numerous projects. The candidate will be expected to design and conduct experiments and assays to better understand drug targets, molecular pathways, and evaluate drug candidates.

How You Will Achieve It

  • The candidate will support the development of molecular, biochemical, and cell-based assays to advance our target validated platform.
  • This position will have hands on experience in primary and iPSC derived cells with background in cancer biology, immunology, or neuroscience.
  • The candidate will collaborate closely with other members of Target Sciences in Cambridge, as well as CTI (Centers of Therapeutic Innovation), Research Unit and partner line scientists and academic partners to ensure aggressive project deliverables, goals and timelines are met.
  • The candidate is expected to embrace and embody the entrepreneurial spirit and biotech-like culture, values and goals of Target Sciences and the greater Emerging Science & Innovation organization and contribute to creating an exciting, collaborative, productive, and scientifically rigorous working environment.
  • The candidate is expected to appropriately maintain experimental data, generate protocols, and reports.
  • The candidate will present experimental design, updates, and results to internal audiences.
