Are you confident and outgoing, and keen to help progress research and innovation in biological sciences through building excellent working relationships with academics, policymakers, and colleagues in industry?

We are looking for a professional and proactive individual to shape the strategic research direction of the Faculty of Biological Sciences (FBS), and to maximise external income and research impact. The Faculty brings together experts in the Schools of Biology, Biomedical Sciences and Molecular and Cellular Biology to deliver outstanding student education and research. The Research & Innovation Development Manager/Officer will develop research and innovation opportunities and manage relationships with world-leading academics and industry partners to grow research and innovation within FBS. You will be our key point of contact for BBSRC to ensure intelligence and information on new funding opportunities can be identified and actively pursued. You will help to maximise research impact and drive the growth of external income through collaboration with business.

Possessing a relevant degree (or equivalent) in Biological Sciences, and with relevant research experience gained via a PhD, or equivalent experience in industry or higher education, you will have experience of developing research and innovation in complex organisations, excellent project management skills, and the ability to build effective partnerships.

Appointment to this role can be made at Grade 7, Officer level or Grade 8, Manager level. If you are appointed at University of Leeds grade 7, a personal development plan will be put in place, which is anticipated to run over a three-year timescale. On satisfactory completion of this plan, you will advance to University of Leeds grade 8 subject to a successful promotion application.
