Position: Laboratory Logistics
Address: 250 N. 17th Avenue in Phoenix, AZ 85007
Salary: $60,669.00
The primary responsibilities of the position are to provide support to the Arizona State Public Health Laboratory in planning, implementing, administering, problem-solving, and coordinating facilities, transportation, communications, supplies, and equipment to be readily available and up-kept for laboratory personnel. The position will also assist with laboratory system improvement projects as requested or needed by laboratory sections. May require weekend and after-hours work as needed.
Job Duties
− Communicate, organize and coordinate with federal, state, county, tribal, laboratory, and healthcare partners to ensure timely delivery of testing supplies and other identified items based on needs. Monitors aspects of coordinating supply logistics including inventory management and procurement follow-up. Problem solve supply issues with facilities to determine root cause and provide solutions. Escalate to the manager as needed.
− Coordinate and be a liaison with partners and other agency groups related to supplies and equipment received from ADHS, including transportation when needed, and assist in tracking for Federal or State requirements. Maintain a tracking mechanism/inventory of ADHS assets deployed.
− Ensure safe and efficient receipt, staging, storing, delivery, and return of resources (e.g. During COVID-19 response laboratory assisted with vaccine storage and transportation following required guidelines) and develop resource allocation plans for fair and equitable distribution of resources.
− Serve as a liaison for the strategic planning and AMS initiatives providing manager and bureau chief updates as needed. Monitor all processes and standard work to ensure efficiency in operations. Periodically assess existing processes and/or processes identified with issues and update as necessary to gain additional work efficiencies. Assist with continuous quality improvement projects.
− Work with manager and others as requested, to identify opportunities for improvement and to develop and coordinate training with subject matter experts to provide to users.
− Updating and maintaining any programs, software, or procedures related to activities. Develop and coordinate training with subject matter experts to provide to users.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Knowledge of:
− Concepts of program planning and design
− Comprehensive knowledge of federal regulations and Arizona Revised Statutes related to laboratory testing
− Good understanding of laboratory management and operational concepts
− Knowledgeable in laboratory safety precautions emphasis when working with infectious agents and hazardous materials
− Good laboratory practices (GLP)
− Knowledge of quality assurance, safety, and security regulations
− Review and reading of professional literature
− Verbal and written communication with active listening
− Analytical and organizational evaluation
− Use of computer hardware and software (Google Suite and MS Office)
− Training courses and conferences

Selective Preferences:
The ideal candidate will have:
- Bachelor's degree in Science or a related field from an accredited college or university with 2-year work experience in a laboratory setting. OR 6 years of work-related experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
Pre-Employment Requirements:
Driving is required for State Business.
- Employees who drive on state business require possession of and the ability to retain a current, valid state-issued driver's license appropriate to the assignment. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver's license checks, must maintain acceptable driving records, and must complete any driver training (See Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.11).
