Associate/Full Professor of CompositionPosition Description
The Department of Music at the University of Chicago invites applications for a tenured position in Composition at the rank of Associate or Full Professor, with an expected start date of July 1, 2022, or as soon as possible thereafter. Typical teaching load: four courses per year at the graduate and undergraduate levels, plus usual advising and committee responsibilities.
Qualifications
We seek a composer with an active creative and performance profile who can also contribute to building the composition program and has the potential to take on leadership roles. Applicants must also have professional experience that demonstrates the ability to be an effective teacher and mentor at the University at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Preferred qualifications include a PhD, DMA or equivalent degree in Music or a related field and a documented record of excellence in teaching at the University level.
