Assistant Professor, Mathematics
The Department of Mathematics in the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Washington (Seattle) invites applications for multiple full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor positions. These positions have an anticipated start date of Autumn 2022 and will have a 9-month service period. UW faculty engage in teaching, research, and service. The successful candidate will be expected to teach a full-time load of undergraduate and graduate courses, to engage in mentoring, and to participate in service to the department and the profession.

Applicants are required to have a PhD, or foreign equivalent, and an established and strong research record in mathematics.
Applications should include a cover letter, the American Mathematical Society's Cover Sheet for Academic Employment, a curriculum vitae, statements of research, diversity, and teaching interests, and at least three letters of recommendation. The cover letter should express how the candidate hopes to fit in our department. Review of applications will begin on October 15, 2021, and continue until the position is filled. Letters of recommendation must be received by October 25, 2021.
Candidates must include a diversity statement that addresses their contributions to diversity, equity, and inclusion. This should be a one-to two-page statement highlighting past contributions and future plans to advance equity, diversity, and inclusion, with attention to how the applicant has supported the success of students from racial, ethnic, and gender backgrounds that are underrepresented in mathematics. Applicants who have not yet had the opportunity for such experience should address their plans and how they will achieve them, and they should also address the reasons why they may not have been able to take advantage of opportunities for such work in the past.
