Overview:
A Research Assistant II position is currently available in Dr. Andrew Mayers laboratory at The Mind Research Network. Dr. Mayers research team focuses on using MRI to assess recovery after traumatic brain injury in Veterans, civilian adults, athletes, and children, as well as working with other populations. The Research Assistant will work as part of a team on several grant-funded studies examining the cognitive and neuronal dysfunctions associated with trauma. The RAII will be responsible for clinical (recruiting, screening, and scheduling subjects) data collection, laboratory processing of participant samples (blood, saliva), data entry, data analyses, and other duties as needed. The RA will be expected to become proficient in the use of SPSS, R and Linux-based software platforms.As this position involves working as part of a research team, as well as working with sensitive populations, applicants should have strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Qualifications:
A bachelors degree in psychology, neuroscience, computer science, statistics or a related field is required and 6 months or more of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities and have been attained.Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of individuals. Strong written and verbal communication skills, the ability to work independently and as a part of a team. Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Office, as well as the ability to learn department-specific computer systems.

Preferred/Additional Qualifications :
2 years of post-graduate work or Masters degree, experience collecting patient blood and/or interest in learning phlebotomy is preferred. Individuals with a background in quantitative analyses, and/or experience in neuroimaging processing and analyses are strongly encouraged to apply.
