Clinical Instructor - Nursing

Job Summary:

Due to the success and expansion of the nursing program at Carthage College, we are seeking qualified Clinical Instructors in all areas of specialization. Clinical Instructors are responsible for assisting undergraduate Nursing students to successfully meet their clinical objectives by planning, coordinating, and implementing student-centered, clinical instruction in the psychomotor skills lab, simulation laboratories, and affiliated clinical organizations, and by providing formative and summative evaluations of the students' performance. The Clinical Instructor is an extension of the Course Director and supports student learning through Socratic questioning to connect theory to practice and promote the development of clinical judgment. Reports to the Director of Nursing.

Carthage College is currently looking for individuals who can teach clinical for adult health, children's health, maternal-child and mental health/psychiatric nursing. Clinicals are 2 6-hour days per week for 14 weeks. Some clinical sections are during the evening.

Minimum Education and Experience:
  1. Master's degree in Nursing
  2. At least 2 years of clinical nursing experience in an applicable field of Nursing
  3. Criminal history and background check clearance
  4. An unencumbered License to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Wisconsin
  5. Provide evidence of immunizations and CPR certification congruent with Department of Nursing policies
  6. Possess thorough knowledge of health assessment, medications, treatments, diagnoses, and be able to relate these aspects of patient care to problem solving/critical thinking skill development in students
  7. Ability to operationalize the philosophy, mission, and values of the Department of Nursing
