Full-time, tenure-track assistant professorship of the History of the Modern Middle East (1500 to present) in the Department of History. The appointment will begin fall semester 2022. Teaching duties (2-2 load) include a survey in World History from 1500, undergraduate upper division courses in modern Middle Eastern History, and graduate courses in the candidate's area of specialty. The Knoxville campus of the University of Tennessee is seeking candidates who have the ability to contribute in meaningful ways to the diversity and intercultural goals of the University.

*Qualifications:*
Ph.D. is required at the time of appointment. History of the Modern Middle East (1500 to present). Research specialties in any topic will be considered. We particularly encourage applications from scholars whose thematic focuses complement our department's existing expertise in transregional histories, social identity, gender, empire, or memory.
