The Edward J. Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy at Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey, seeks a full-time non-tenured Professor of Practice for a period of three years, with the possibility of renewal. Applicants with significant professional experience are encouraged to apply.

We seek to appoint a public policy practitioner who will teach a mix of undergraduate and graduate courses in public policy. The specific courses will depend on the skills of the person hired and the needs of the programs. The individual selected will also provide academic advising and professional networking for graduate public policy students. The ideal candidate will extend the school's already extensive government, non-profit, and industry engagement and will support and grow student internship and research programs in these areas.

Candidates must have a Ph.D. or other terminal degree in a relevant field (e.g., public policy, political science, economics, law, management, public administration). We will consider applicants at all ranks (assistant professor, associate professor and professor) but successful candidates will demonstrate both the potential for excellence in teaching and experience with research and engagement with government, the non-profit sector, and industry.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

(1) Ability to teach graduate-level and undergraduate courses in public policy related areas.

(2) Extensive professional networks in the public and/or non-profit sectors

(3) Knowledge of program operation in the university setting.

(4) A record of verifiable teaching and mentoring experience.

Applicants should submit a letter of application, curriculum vitae, a writing sample, and the names and contact information of three professional references. Review of applications will begin on November 15, 2021.
