We are seeking a Registered Nurse to work on our 14-bed pediatric unit that specializes in the care of the medically complex child.
The nurses on this unit work very closely with a multidisciplinary team which includes Physicians, Respiratory Therapists, Physical Therapists, Psychologists, Surgeons, Case Managers, Social Workers and Child Life Specialists to coordinate a holistic plan of care for the patient and family.
Pediatric populations on this unit include children dependent on technology such as home ventilators and home dialysis as well as children dependent on tracheostomies.
The unit also specializes in the care of children with acute and chronic nephrology diseases, new diagnosis of type 1 diabetes, epilepsy and idiopathic/non-idiopathic scoliosis. Education:
Preferred - Baccalaureate degree in nursing.
Minimum - One (1) year relevant pediatric nursing experience or two (2) years of recent adult inpatient nursing experience.
Preferred - One (1) year relevant pediatric nursing experience.
Licenses and Certifications:
Minimum - Registration as a professional nurse in the State of Wisconsin and CPR certification.
Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
Knowledge regarding quality improvement and standards of care within practice area.
Experience in teaching patients and families.
Excellent communication skills. Ability to effectively delegate and supervise the work of other nursing team members.
Relevant experience in pediatric hematology/oncology.
Based on unit needs, additional knowledge, skills and abilities may be required.
Demonstrates ability to use pediatric critical thinking skills.
Demonstrates ability to provide developmentally appropriate patient and family centered care. Physical Requirements:
Medium: Ability to lift up to 50 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
