*Department of History *
*History* - to teach in the History program at the Ocean campus. All modern fields of history will be considered with a preference for those with a specialty in one more World Areas. The successful candidate will also serve as the full-time administrator and advisor to students in the History and History/Pre-Law program at Kean Ocean. While based at the Kean Ocean campus, the candidate will participate in the intellectual life of the Department of History at Kean's Union campus. Members of the department embody the teacher-scholar model, matching rigorous research with dedication to teaching. The successful candidate will contribute to both Kean University efforts to grow opportunities for undergraduate research and the Department of History's public-facing commitment to social justice.
*Qualifications*: Earned Doctorate in History by July 1, 2022 is required, with a preference for candidates who can demonstrate significant teaching experience.
Positions are ten-month, full-time, tenure-track assignments at the rank of Assistant Professor effective for the Fall 2022 semester, unless otherwise indicated. Teaching assignments and related responsibilities may include day, evening, weekend and online courses. Courses may be taught at the Union campus, Kean Ocean, Kean Skylands or other locations. Faculty positions located in the Nathan Weiss Graduate College may require evening hours for graduate course assignments.
All tenure-track faculty are expected to demonstrate a commitment to teaching excellence and an on-going program of research and publication or creative and performance activity. Participation in curriculum development, student advisement and service at the departmental/school, college, university and community level is also required. Interest or experience in using advanced instructional technologies to improve the teaching/learning process is highly desirable. Proficiency in the Learning Management System, Blackboard and Online Learning Pedagogy is required, consistent with University guidelines. Kean may offer free voluntary Blackboard workshops to otherwise qualified applicants.
