The Department of Physical Therapy at Western Carolina University (WCU) invites applications for a 12-month, fixed-term Assistant Professor faculty position to begin in January 2022 as the Director of Clinical Education (DCE). The DCE will administrate over all aspects of clinical education, including organization, continuous improvement review of the clinical education experiences, as well as development of new clinical partnerships. In addition, the DCE will have academic, service, and scholarship responsibilities consistent with accreditation standards and the mission and philosophy of the Department of Physical Therapy. The WCU physical therapy program fosters a student-centered learning environment where faculty place student success first and highly value diversity, inclusive excellence, interprofessional teamwork. The program enjoys a highly dynamic, positive work/learning environment with extensive support for faculty development and excellent opportunities for collaborative teaching, service, and research. Salary and rank are commensurate with academic qualifications and experience. The program has students in both Asheville and Cullowhee with custom designed laboratories and excellent instructional technology resources that support synchronous video delivery between locations. The Biltmore Park instructional site is in Asheville, 50 miles away from Cullowhee, and houses several graduate programs including physical therapy, nursing, and social work. All faculty have primary assignments, but teach in both locations at times in order to foster strong relationships with all students. The primary location associated with this position (Cullowhee, NC or Asheville, NC) is negotiable. Review of applications will begin in September and continue until the position is filled.

*Minimum Qualifications:*
* Current physical therapy license or eligibility to obtain licensure in North Carolina.
* Professional physical therapy doctorate (DPT) from an accredited institution.
* 3 years of demonstrated clinical experience in physical therapy.
* 3 years of demonstrated clinical education experience as a SCCE or CI, or 1 year of demonstrated clinical education experience and 2 years of demonstrated experience teaching in a physical therapy program.
*Preferred Qualifications:*
* Exceptional communication, organization, interpersonal, problem-solving, and clinical mentoring skills.
* Committed to quality, able to work independently and coordinate work with colleagues and peers, especially with colleagues involved with clinical education.
* Knowledge of legislative, regulatory, legal, and practice issues affecting clinical education, students, and the profession of physical therapy.
* Commitment to community engagement through teaching, service, and scholarship.
* American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties (ABPTS) certification or certification credentials appropriate for their teaching responsibilities.
* 5 years or more of clinical experience in physical therapy.
* Prior teaching experience in higher education.
* Expertise and ability to teach in an area that complements our current faculty in one or more of the following areas: acute care, pharmacology, or cardiopulmonary pediatric or neuromuscular physical therapy.
* Experience or desire to engage in interprofessional education and/or simulation.
* Demonstrated commitment to work with diverse cultural backgrounds.
* Record of service to the profession.
* Actively engaged or interested in research.
* A terminal academic doctoral degree (PhD, EdD, DSc, etc.) or equivalent in a complimentary field to physical therapy from an accredited institution.
