Job Description:

The Department of Mechanical Engineering at the State University of New York at Binghamton invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the assistant professor level in the areas of Mechanics and Materials. The department is particularly interested in a candidate whose research intersects with the fields of AI, machine learning, advanced manufacturing or soft materials. The position will start effective Fall 2022.

The Department of Mechanical Engineering has 20 faculty members, with undergraduate and graduate enrollments of approximately 400 and 110 students, respectively. The Department of Mechanical Engineering and the Watson College of Engineering and Applied Science are dedicated to the goal of building a diverse and inclusive teaching, research, and working environment. Requirements:

Candidates must have a PhD in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field. The successful candidate is expected to develop a research program capable of securing competitive external research funding. The candidate must also have the potential for quality teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate levels and is expected to address teaching needs in the above areas.
