At Purdue University, the Department of Computer Graphics Technology (CGT) is one of six units in the Purdue Polytechnic Institute. It offers a BS and a MS in Computer Graphics Technology and participates in the Polytechnic Institute PhD program. The Department of Computer Graphics Technology at Purdue University (CGT) invites applications for an Assistant Professor of Practice faculty position in the area of Animation and Visual Effects. We are a research-intensive department focused on applied research informed by close engagement with industry. Our program is technically oriented with post-graduation student placement primarily in the domains of technical art, technical animation, technical direction and programming. Our alumni work successfully in the highest echelons of the animation and game industries.

Qualifications

A Masters degree in animation, digital media, digital arts, film studies, art, or a relevant digital media discipline must be completed by August 1, 2022. Substantial industry experience with work on projects of national reputation is required.

Job Description

The faculty member will support the undergraduate majors in Animation, Visual Effects and Game Design and Development, conduct research and development in industry practices, and provide service and engagement work. Teaching courses in one or more of the following areas will be required: character animation, rigging, 3D motion graphics, and/or visual effects integration with live action.

Duties

Commitment to teaching and conducting research and development in current industry practices is required. Demonstrating active learning pedagogies, teaching and developing undergraduate and graduate courses, and mentoring are expected.
