Description:
The Emory Neuromodulation and Technology Innovation Center (ENTICe) - a multi-department center at Emory University - seeks applications for an Assistant Professor level position with a focus on any area of translational neuroscience and/or neuroengineering including but not limited to motor, cognition, memory, executive functioning, attention, perception, decision-making, and/or reasoning. A strong theoretical and/or engineering-based research program is sought, directed at elucidating the systems neuroscience basis of neurological/psychiatric dysfunction and its restoration, preferably using tools of neuromodulation. We especially welcome applicants who use cognitive neuroscience methods, conduct research in both the laboratory and applied settings, including with patients, and who can speak to the real-world impact of the processes they study.This will possibly be a Tenure eligible position based upon candidate experince.Preference will be given to individuals using state-of-the-art cross disciplinary approaches incorporating computational and/or quantitative methods such as multiscale recording and stimulation, in vivo microscopy, and/or in vivo electrochemistry, but other approaches to neuromodulation, and other areas such as incorporating molecular/genetic/genomic approaches will be considered. Candidates must hold a PhD or an MD/PhD with evidence of excellence in research and the ability to establish a vigorous, externally funded research program while contributing to the ENTICe mission.The successful candidate must demonstrate excellence or the promise of excellence in both research and teaching. He/she is expected to develop and maintain an internationally recognized and externally funded research program, have a commitment to engage in undergraduate, graduate, and medical education, and perform service to the department, school, and university. Successful candidates must demonstrate the ability to integrate and interact with ENTICe center members, existing programs (e.g., movement disorders, epilepsy, memory and depression), and collaborators of the ENTICe program, specifically faculty and students at the Georgia Institute of Technology. ENTICe is a collaborative effort between the Departments of Neurology, Neurosurgery, Psychiatry, and Biomedical Engineering. The mission of ENTICe is to advance the understanding and effectiveness of neuromodulation and other neurotechnologies in order to reduce the burden of neurologic and psychiatric disorders. Ongoing research includes projects in the fields of movement disorders, epilepsy, memory and depression, with plans for expansion to related topics.The Department of Neurosurgery, together with Emory University School of Medicine, is fully committed to the shared values of diversity and inclusion in order to achieve and sustain excellence.
