Overview:
GENERAL SUMMARY OF POSITION: Under the direction of the Principal Investigator or Designee, the Research Associate performs a variety of complex research experiments.

Responsibilities:
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: Conducts in-depth analysis of research experimentsPerforms complex laboratory experimentsInterprets data, forms conclusion, and decides on and plans next experiments to be done with a high degree of independenceCompiles and analyzes data and performs computations using image analysis software, spreadsheets, graphing, and curve fitting softwareMay modify protocols and be responsible for a single, independent research projectAssists in writing the text of scientific publications and grants. Reviews literatureTrains new laboratory personnel, students, and collaboratorsMaintains laboratory supplies and equipmentComplies with all safety and infection control standardsPerform other duties as required.

Qualifications:
REQUIREDQUALIFICATIONS: Bachelors degree in Biological Sciences, or equivalent experienceKnowledge of Microsoft Office productsStrong ability to analyze complex visual data in a quantitative and objective mannerJudgment and action skills required to solve commonly encountered problemsPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:Expose and/or experience in experimental immunology and molecular biologySkills in cell culture, immune assays, flow cytometry, molecular biology, biochemistry and mouse experimentation are desirable.SUPERVISION RECEIVED:Under the direction of the Principal Investigator, or designeeSUPERVISION EXERCISED: May functionally supervise Lab Technicians and AidesENVIRONMENTAL WORKING CONDITIONS:Wet chemistry laboratory, and may require appropriate contact with biohazards, radionuclides, toxins, animals, and human specimens.
