Florida State University seeks candidates for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position to begin in August 2022. Applicants must hold (or be expected to receive prior to August 2022) a doctorate in urban and regional planning, or an equivalent degree in a related field, and must demonstrate potential for excellence in teaching and research aimed at solutions to problems in urban planning. We especially seek individuals who can contribute to our ongoing efforts to enhance our multicultural educational environment.

The successful candidate will teach neighborhood planning, housing, and community development courses and will contribute to our core curriculum. We are especially interested in candidates who engage in research and teaching that aligns with our departmental focus on social justice, sustainability, and the well-being of all persons. Importantly, we seek candidates whose work contributes to understanding issues of marginalized populations and social inequalities. Such areas might include work on housing, gentrification and displacement; racialized planning and anti-racist planning practices; participatory and inclusive planning in diverse communities; indigenous, immigrant, and de-colonial perspectives; among other topics. We invite candidates who use a range of quantitative and qualitative methods including participatory action research and community-engaged research. The successful candidate is expected to develop a robust research program and to contribute to advising and service activities.
