Job DescriptionThe role of Senior Scientist will work closely with the CSO and scientific team to achieve the company's scientific and strategic plan. We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Scientist for a project leadership and biology lab-based role. The Scientist will have responsibility for leading and executing projects as part of the scientific team to ensure the advancement of key programs in the pipeline. Our ideal candidate is an independent thinker with excellent communication skills who will provide insights towards experiment design and interpretation and is also a team player who may take on responsibilities outside his/her scope of work. The candidate should have a track-record of project leadership, consistent experimentation, experience with cell-based assays relevant to cancer biology, integrity, and tangible contributions to biopharmaceutical drug programs and/or peer-reviewed publications. The candidate should be familiar with the drug discovery process and have experience coordinating target validation, mechanistic biology, in vivo efficacy, toxicology, and PK/PD workflows. Project responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Validation of key targets using the company's unique platform centered on CIN and metastasis
- Interrogating the biology of CIN and metastasis to yield new mechanistic insights and identify new targets
- Managing and coordinating teams (internal or CRO-based) to enable project progression and align with timelines and milestones
- Designing studies to support biomarker and patient selection strategies
- Cancer cell line culture and genetic engineering (lentiviral transduction, overexpression, RNAi and/or CRISPR/Cas9)
- Cell-based phenotypic assays such as proliferation, cytotoxicity, migration or invasion
- Data analysis and presentation through software such as Graphpad Prism, Microsoft Excel and Powerpoint
- Experience leading projects and managing concurrent activities
- Ability to work independently and manage timelines to meet deadlines
- Excellent communication skills and ability to articulate science and strategy across all levels
- Design and implementation of genetic or pharmacological screens
- Confocal and/or high-content microscopy including live imaging
- Management of CRO activities
- PhD in a relevant field such as cell biology or cancer biology
- 3+ years experience in a biotech/pharmaceutical setting
- Experience leading drug discovery programs
