**Position Description:**

Provides leadership and administration within a designated area(s) of a college or school, in accordance with established guidelines, university policy and/or governmental regulations.

**Major/Essential Functions:**

+ Follows and promotes, in conjunction with the faculty and administration, the vision and strategic plan for the School of Nursing academic mission

+ Provides leadership for the development, implementation, and evaluation of all academic programs within the School of Nursing

+ Leads program approval for state regulatory and accreditation efforts, including coordinating the preparation of various reports for Texas Board of Nursing, CCNE, AACN and SACS COC

+ Facilitates collection, analysis and reporting of statistical program data to ensure compliance with state and institutional accreditation and/or regulatory agencies

+ Engages in teaching and scholarly activities appropriate to faculty rank to include assigned academic course schedule in a classroom, laboratory, and/or clinic/field experience setting as appropriate for the nursing program

+ Oversees the process for course, faculty, and program evaluation and ensure a continuous process of development, revision, implementation and evaluation of curriculum that promotes, consistency, continuity and congruence in all program of study

+ Works closely with Assistant Deans to ensure compatibility and articulation within programs

+ Participates and provides leadership in committee/taskforces/councils, as a member or Chair, relevant to the academic mission of the institution and University

+ Coordinates revisions and consistency of information of the School of Nursing faculty handbook, student handbook, catalog and website

+ Participates in recruitment, selection, orientation, and retention of faculty for the respective program and make recommendations to the Dean

+ Facilitates the coordination between student and the School of Nursing regarding admission, retention, and progression of students

+ Provides leadership in the planning development, and implementation of university sponsored recruitment and retention activities

+ Directs School of Nursing program related grant funded projects as appropriate, and assist in the development of grant proposals and the School of Nursing

+ Leads projects and initiatives as requested by the Dean of the School of Nursing

+ Performs other duties as required

**Preferred Qualifications:**

+ Accreditation experience, leadership program accreditation and involvement in institutional accreditation

+ National recognition as an educator, clinician, and/or leader within the nursing profession

**Required Qualifications:**

+ Ph.D. or Ed.D. in Nursing or related discipline from a regionally accredited institution

+ Texas state nursing license or eligibility for Texas state licensure as a registered nurse

+ Qualifications for faculty appointment at the rank of Associate Professor or higher

+ Three (3) years of teaching experience in undergraduate and graduate nursing programs

+ Academic leadership experience as a department chair, associate dean, or assistant dean in a nursing school or health sciences center
