*Position Description:*The Department of Finance in the School of Business at the College of Charleston invites applications for a tenured position of an Associate Professor in Real Estate / Director for the Carter Real Estate Center, starting July 2022.

The Associate Professor of Real Estate is a full-time, tenured position. The normal teaching load is 2/2, mainly teaching Real Estate courses such as Real Estate Principles, Real Estate Market Analysis, and other Real Estate-related courses. The candidate is expected to periodically review and assess Real Estate-related programs and curriculum such as the Commercial Real Estate Finance major and the Real Estate minor/concentration. The individual will initiate and lead curriculum changes needed to improve these programs. The candidate is also expected to advise the students in these programs and develop the internship program. The candidate is expected to maintain an active research agenda and AACSB Scholarly Academics (SA) faculty status.

The candidate who fills this position will also be the Director of Carter Real Estate Center. In this role, the candidate is expected to actively engage real estate professionals to benefit the school and students, raise funds to support the real estate programs, and oversee the daily operations of the Carter Real Estate Center.

*Qualifications:*
*Required:** *An earned Doctorate degree in Real Estate, Finance or a related area from a nationally accredited university.
*Preferred:* Extensive experience in commercial real estate, strong research record, and prior service experience to a department, college and/or professional community.

The [Department of Finance](https://sb.cofc.edu/academics/academicdepartments/finance/) offers two majors, a B.S. in Finance and a B.S. in Commercial Real Estate Finance, as well as minors in Finance and Real Estate. Our faculty members have expertise across many areas, including investment, corporate finance, international finance, banking management, and financial modeling. While active in research, our faculty are most devoted to teaching. We pride ourselves on interacting directly with students. As a department, we strive to educate and graduate ready-to-work students. To serve this goal, we tailor our curriculum to the real world. The Department has access to many databases such as CRSP, S&P Capital IQ, PrivCo, CoreLogic, CoStar local access, local MLS dataset, GeoTHINK, etc. The Department also has licenses for software such as ARGUS and Crystal Ball.
