The School of Agriculture, Food & Wine is seeking to expand its research and teaching expertise in decision agriculture by appointing an emerging academic leader with a commitment and passion for undergraduate/postgraduate learning and teaching.

The appointee will be required to establish and maintain a dynamic research program in their discipline and develop interdisciplinary collaborations across the wider academic and external industry stakeholder communities. They will also be responsible for coordination, curriculum design and delivery of teaching courses in decision agriculture. The appointee will apply knowledge and/or information that will contribute to decision support systems in agriculture, particularly but not exclusively within the fields of decision support systems in agriculture, block chain technology, data analytics and machine learning and/or precision agriculture tool development.

To be successful you will need:
  • A PhD in precision and/or decision plant-based agriculture, horticulture or viticulture.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead an independent research program, evidenced by a strong track record of research outputs including publications in highly regarded peer-reviewed scientific journals.
  • Success in obtaining external peer-reviewed funding from national competitive agencies as a first named investigator.
  • Demonstrated ability in teaching decision agriculture and/or agricultural sciences at the undergraduate level.
  • Exemplary personal qualities fully aligned with our institutional values of integrity, respect, collegiality, excellence and discovery.
