The College of Education and Human Sciences seeks an Associate Dean to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion. The Associate Dean will join the College's leadership team at a time of growing optimism and opportunities for robust development. This position, new in the history of the College, will be situated in the Office of the Dean of the College of Education and Human Sciences. The Associate Dean for EI will facilitate the development of programs, policies, and practices to promote critical understandings of equity and inclusion issues across the college, local community, state, nation, and world. In addition, the Associate Dean will support the engagement in high-quality research, outreach, and advocacy to advance social, civil, and educational rights in the College of Education and Human Sciences and the OSU community. As such, the Associate Dean will provide leadership to foster collaboration with members of the administrative team, faculty, staff, and students, will support the mission of the College of Education and Human Sciences, and will enhance efforts to conceptualize, define, assess, nurture, and cultivate equity, justice, and diversity as a college/institutional and educational resource.

In particular, the College seeks to hire a candidate who is committed to collaborating in the advancement of equity, inclusion, and justice in teaching, learning and research; helping create equitable education initiatives for all students, faculty, administration, and staff; focusing on historically and currently underserved populations; establishing practices that support the rights of all students; and linking equity and inclusion to excellence through transformative policies and practices. The Associate Dean will strive to enhance diversity among students, faculty, and staff in part by working to recruit and retain a richly diverse student, staff, faculty, and administrative college community. The Associate Dean will also be charged with supporting partnerships as they are built by and with faculty, staff, students, families, districts, and schools.

The position is located on the picturesque main campus in Stillwater, Oklahoma and provides the advantage of living in a large town of just under 50,000. Stillwater has a recent ranking as one of America's safest cities and provides a combination of large city amenities and the charm of a smaller community, including affordable housing and excellent schools.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Individuals seeking this position must possess the following:
  • An earned doctorate from an accredited institution in one of the disciplines of the college, or a related field;
  • A demonstrated record of scholarship that merits a tenured faculty appointment as an Associate Professor;
  • Evidence of an established record of activism, leadership, recruitment, and mentorship and a desire to collaborate in addressing issues of diversity, discrimination equity, and justice within and beyond the college;
  • Strong analytic, written, and oral communication skills;
  • Evidence of service to diverse constituencies in a shared governance environment and contributing to and cultivating diverse and inclusive participatory faculty governance structures;
  • Experience and demonstrated knowledge in research and practice in the field of diversity, justice, critical methodologies, and equity in education/human sciences;
  • Demonstrated experience in designing and leading new initiatives or programs to advance the equity and social justice mission of an academic department or college;
  • A desire to work in a team-based, dynamic environment

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Preference will be given to candidates who have:
  • A demonstrated record of scholarship that merits a tenured faculty appointment as Professor;
  • Successful experience in a leadership/administrative position ideally related to diversity and equity.

SALARY: Competitive; commensurate with experience and qualifications.
