*Essential Job Duties:**This position will be located in Edinburg, Texas at a partner research facility, Mission Lab USDA APHIS.*
The Life Engineering Lab at NC State invites applications for a newly-created post-doctoral research position in our bacteriophage engineering program. This position will contribute to several ongoing projects in the areas of microbial engineering and phage ecology. Our goal is to adapt breakthrough technologies, such as CRISPR DNA editing, to plant pathosystems.
We are looking for someone who is motivated and able to work independently. This position will be responsible for coordinating with group members both on and off campus so excellent communication skills are a must. The position is available immediately and will be for a period of one year with the option to continue up to 4 years based on the continued avalibitly of funding and inline with University policies on postdoctoral appointments.
*Other Work/Responsibilities:*Opportunities for student training and grant preparation. Occasional field work may be required.
*Work Schedule:*Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm
*Department Required Skills:*
* PhD in Plant Pathology, Microbiology, or related field.

* Familiarity with modern cloning and DNA engineering techniques.

* Demonstrated writing skills through peer-reviewed publications.
*Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education:*
* Plant-associated microbes, CRISPR technology, Genomics, Fastidious microbes, Tripartite disease systems, Plant agricultural systems.
