*Position Summary: *

Livingstone College is currently seeking a dynamic and visionary Chair for the Department of Hospitality Management to begin in the Fall of 2019. This leadership position requires a doctoral degree in Hospitality Management or closely aligned field. Candidate must be committed to providing students with the theoretical and practical foundation needed to succeed in the competitive hospitality field. The new Department Chair must be committed to recruiting and retaining students with the primary goal of educating with the intent upon diversifying the workforce in the Hospitality industry.

*Essential Duties & Responsibilities: *

•Infuse leadership, creativity, and practical core knowledge and soft-skills required for hospitality professionals in the twenty-first century in instructional practices;
•Exhibit a commitment to excellence in teaching and learning and the ability to work cooperatively with students, faculty, staff, and administration; •Use technology platforms and assistive technology to enhance student learning;
•Support the Livingstone College holistic approach to teaching and learning;
•Commitment to the success of students with diverse goals, backgrounds and learning styles;
•Instruct students in accordance with college policies, procedures, and curriculum approved by the Hospitality Management Department;
•Use out-of-class time for class preparation, advising, mentoring, assisting students and participating in department/college activities;
•Serve the College through committee membership, curriculum development, development of innovative instruction, sponsorship of student organizations, professionally related community activities, and special projects;
•Maintain currency through professional development and scholarly activities;
•Demonstrate a professional, cooperative and considerate attitude toward students, colleagues and staff;
•Perform other duties as assigned.

*Education/ Experience: *

Required: Terminal degree in Hospitality Management or closely aligned field from a regionally accredited university is required. Master's degree in Hospitality Management will be considered. Significant industry and prior teaching/leadership experience also required. Applicant should have a record of scholarly publications and industry engagement. Other skills and abilities include strong written and oral communication skills; working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Publisher and PowerPoint, and familiarity with learning platforms used in higher education.
