External RNs with at least 1 year of experience are eligible for up to a $20,000 sign on bonus (prorated for part time roles). The bonus will be paid out as a $10,000.00 gross pay adjustment in the first pay check and the remaining $10,000.00 will be paid upon completion of two years of satisfactory service.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
As a nurse on a general medicine unit, you will provide care to patients who are acutely ill with a wide variety of medical problems and diseases. Medical nurses have a solid knowledge of diseases and body systems, and are skilled at multi-tasking and high-level critical thinking. Every patient presents with individual medical, psychosocial, and behavioral needs for whom the medical nurse is skilled at developing and implementing a patient-centered plan of care.
McClure 6 is newly established as a medical unit. Joining this unit provides you with a unique opportunity to help build a new team, a new unit, and a new culture. We are seeking nurses and support staff who have strong team skills and work well with change. There will be opportunities for professional engagement with the planning, team building, training, and clinical practice development.
Professional growth and development is strongly encouraged and supported in the Department of Nursing including participating in Nursing Professional Governance, Unit Based Practice Council, Specialty Nurse Practice Groups, and the Clinical Advancement and Recognition Program to name a few. EDUCATION:
State of Vermont Registered Nurse (RN) license required. The University of Vermont Medical Center is moving toward an all Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) workforce. All external candidates hired into, or current employees promoted to, a RN position will be required to obtain their BSN as outlined in the terms of their offer letter.
EXPERIENCE:
Appropriate experience in specific clinical area. Varies by unit.
Greater than one year of experience.
