You are invited to apply for the full time position of Laboratory Technician to work as part of the Technical team supporting the School of Biological Sciences teaching activities. The post will involve preparing equipment, reagents and samples for undergraduate practical classes to time and quality standards across a broad range of Biological disciplines.
The ideal candidate will have a scientific background and have an appreciation of the hazards both biological and chemical that can exist within the laboratory setting. The candidate must have a willingness to work with a variety of waste streams (chemical, biological and recycling), to adhere to specific cleaning protocols and be able to assist in the cleaning, calibration and maintenance of a range of common basic laboratory equipment. The candidate should also be competent at using common computer packages and administrative systems.
The School of Biological Sciences technical team is an adaptable, proactive and hardworking team and the ideal candidate should have a good range of soft skills that will upkeep the team's work ethic.
