Job Title: Lab Manager/Research Associate, Cellstate Biosciences, Inc.

Overview

The Lab Manager/Research Associate performs a wide range of duties and tasks related to assisting with the operations of Cellstates scientific laboratories. This is a hybrid position, 40% Lab Manager, 60% Research Associate. The ideal candidate must also be able to perform experiments with other scientists as well as perform some independent work.

Cellstate Biosciences is a growing biotechnology company with locations in Tucson and Oro Valley, AZ providing assay development services for academic research groups, clinical diagnostic companies, and pharmaceutical companies. This position will be based primarily at the Tucson site but will assist in ordering supplies and maintaining inventory for both sites.Some intermittent travel between sites may be necessary and therefore a working vehicle and valid Driver's License are required.

Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Management: Ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements; conducting laboratory inspections as necessary; reviewing laboratory protocols of all research groups (internal and external) so as to understand all projects occurring within the lab.
  2. Operations: Monitoring inventory and ordering supplies (chemicals, reagents, personal protective equipment, etc.) as necessary; scheduling laboratory and equipment time for staff; acting as a liaison between staff and key stakeholders.
  3. Training: Ensuring that all team members have been trained to use laboratory equipment, software, and supplies safely and efficiently.
  4. Safety: Updating the lab safety plan and safety data sheets (SDS) as necessary; scheduling safety training for new hires or team members entering new roles; enforcing policies around personal protective equipment and laboratory notebook documentation.
  5. Maintenance: Overseeing the cleaning and sanitizing of the lab; ensuring all equipment and instruments function correctly, and initiating repair or maintenance of said equipment preemptively and as necessary.
  6. Experiments:
  • Work with a scientific team, and perform small experiments independently.
  • Assist in analyzing, interpreting, and presenting experimental data.
  • Maintain a detailed laboratory notebook.
  • Assist in researching key topics and implementing new protocols as needed.
  • Prepare media, solutions, maintain cell lines, and other reagents needed for assays.


Qualifications

  • Two to four years of laboratory science experience performing most or all of the duties described above.
  • A degree in biology, chemistry, or a related field of science.
  • Experience with mammalian and bacterial cell culture techniques and procedures is desirable.
  • Demonstrated ability to complete laboratory experiments.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
