The role

We are seeking to appoint a Senior Lecturer / Lecturer in Design Thinking to join the multi-award-winning team in the Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship ( www.bristol.ac.uk/innovation ) which was founded in 2016. The Centre is a flagship component of the University of Bristol's strategy to further strengthen the links between education, research, entrepreneurship and innovation, and the leveraging of Bristol's city and region as a unique asset on the international stage.

The Centre has a mix of practitioner academics with commercial / industry backgrounds and academics with teaching backgrounds in Higher Education Institutes.

The role will be central to the further development of the Centre's Programmes which are at the heart of the Centre of Innovation and Entrepreneurship. The aim of the Innovation Programmes is to produce a new kind of highly-skilled graduate whose training will enable them to generate growth and drive societal and global change through innovation.

What will you be doing?

The role will involve the development and delivery of design thinking content at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, and to undertake associated administrative duties as required. A key element of the role is to develop practical applied learning approaches that utilise team and project-based studio learning. The post holder will play a central role in helping students, both individually and in groups, develop innovative solutions to problems and enable change.

You should apply if
  • You have the expertise in one or more of the following areas:
  • Design trends.
  • Design thinking.
  • Either teaching experience in a Higher Education Institute or significant equivalent experience facilitating / training teams in an industrial context.
  • Experience of current debates, trends and issues relating to the expanding field of design and innovation.
  • Evidence of excellent organisational and administrative skills.
  • Evidence of ability to contribute effectively to the administration and management of the University of Bristol's Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship.

Experience of fostering and developing creative cultures.
