Head of Manufacturing

By breaking out of the cell, and using the components of biology in a cell-free system, we are fundamentally changing the way scientists approach discovery.

We're looking for an experienced and passionate Head of Manufacturing to join our early stage startup. You'll have the opportunity to work in a fast-paced, diverse, multidisciplinary team and join in perfecting the science of cell-free systems using automation and our breakthrough platform, SolAI.

As a full-time Head of Manufacturing with Tierra, you will take the heart of our company to the next level by optimizing our pilot line manufacturing while keeping an eye on scalability and growth. Your expertise will drive our manufacturing team in managing process transfer activities, revising protocols, and strategizing for future manufacturing expansion. Your excellent organizational skills and collaborative attitude will enable you to build, and work effectively leading a team of highly motivated, multi-talented operators to drive big picture company goals.

Your Contributions

• Set manufacturing guidelines and expectations and ensure on-time delivery of customer orders.
• Manage a team of operators/technicians that run production and manufacturing
• Organize and schedule production runs for protein synthesis
• Automate processes and revises protocols/SOPs to increase efficiencies
• Perform QA duties
• Take initiative in finding areas for improvement across departments and developing strategies for resolution
• As with all members of the team, take initiative to assist in company growth strategy and onboarding

About YouRequirements

• 6-8 years of experience in a wet-lab manufacturing environment
• 3-4 years of experience managing operators/technicians in a production environment
• Product development exposure
• Operating knowledge or exposure to finance/accounting
• Experience with MS Excel

Not required, but exceptional candidates would also have some...

• Hands-on experience performing QA functions
• Experience assisting with corporate budgets and G&A responsibilities
• Process development and/or tech transfer experience
• Experience in process engineering or supply chain
• Experience working with suppliers

This position is based full-time on-site at our San Leandro, CA location - Tierra may agree to offer relocation assistance for this role.
