Student Neurodiversity Team Leader

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Student Services and support students as part of our Disability and Inclusion service. We are currently recruiting for a proactive and enthusiastic Student Neurodiversity Team Leader to manage the University's Student Neurodiversity Practitioner team to deliver high quality, seamless, disability support and advice for students within the context of the Equality Act 2010.

The Student Neurodiversity Specialist Practitioner team has recently evolved from one which focussed primarily on Specific Learning Difficulties and as Team Leader you will be responsible for shaping the team.

As a Student Neurodiversity Team Leader, you will lead the team responsible for supporting disabled students through specialist support and reasonable adjustments. The students we support include, but are not limited to, those with specific learning difficulties such as dyslexia, Autism Spectrum Conditions and ADHD.

In this role you will be expected to:

• Manage a team of specialist practitioners, including the setting clear objectives, managing performance and ensuring KPIs are understood and achieved
• Develop and maintain clear processes and procedures for the team that put the student at the heart of everything we do
• Work in partnership with the Disability and Inclusion managers to ensure the service runs safely and efficiently and that staff are developed and supported in their roles
• Work collegially with other colleagues to take a multi-disciplinary approach which creates a seamless student experience to support our students.
• Lead on an individual project area within related to student support, chair meetings and lead discussion groups
• Contribute to the development and implementation of a Student Disability and Inclusion strategy to ensure an outstanding student experience for all

Successful candidates must have a relevant degree, or be able to demonstrate an equivalent skill level and/or hold a relevant specialist qualification; an understanding of working within a Higher Education setting would be beneficial.

Applications are welcomed from those with experience of team leadership working in a relevant field (e.g. dyslexia advisors, autism specialists, specialist teachers) or with an interest in this field and must be able to demonstrate experience of managing a team.

Please note, being able to work flexibly is a requirement of this role; you will work both virtually and in a large open plan office and you will be part of a rota that operates from 8am -8pm across weekdays; occasional weekend and evening work is required for Open Days and Transition Programme events for new students.

The salary for this post starts from £31,406 (FTE). Further benefits include the opportunity to join the University's pension scheme, 30 days annual leave and access to a number of University employer discount schemes.
