Part-time (0.4FTE) job share role, fixed term position available until October 2022.

We are seeking a Senior Development Officer (Fundraising & Communications) to join our progressive Advancement Team to build philanthropic support and create impact in the University community.

The Advancement Unit, located in the External Relations Branch, is responsible for the leadership and delivery of key strategic fundraising and alumni engagement programs to support the priorities of The University of Adelaide.

As a highly collaborative team member, the Senior Development Officer (Fundraising & Communications) works closely with the Advancement team to drive strategy and effectively use external communication channels. The successful candidate will have the ability to build compelling stories and assist with content development to increase the profile of philanthropic giving and retain supporters.

This role will also have responsibility for direct marketing driven donor acquisition and retention building appeals, growth in retained and recurring donors, increased alumni awareness and media campaigns inclusive of social and digital channels.

To be successful you will need:
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with previous content development experience.
  • Able to inspire others, build trust and persuade them to commit to a cause.
  • Evidence of an understanding of the principles and goals of fundraising and philanthropy within the context of Higher Education.
  • Previous experience in annual fundraising, direct marketing and/or communications, in particular digital fundraising or marketing.
  • High level planning, organisational and project management skills with a proven strong attention to detail and a highly developed sense of quality.
  • Analytical and strategic thinking abilities with effective problem solving, negotiation and decision-making skills.
