The role

The School for Policy Studies is seeking to appoint a Lecturer in Social Policy to expand and complement our current excellent teaching and research. We are interested in but are not limited to, candidates with expertise in the areas of welfare; employment; education; housing; comparative social policy; or global inequalities. We encourage applications from candidates who can engage with and extend the work of our inter and cross-disciplinary School profile and research centres. The School has an exceptional reputation for teaching, research and public engagement and the appointee will join an ambitious and collegial School that pushes forward intellectual debates and real-world solutions to a range of policy and social dilemmas within an interdisciplinary environment.

What will you be doing?

The post holder will be engaged in research, scholarship teaching and administration. They will teach students and supervise dissertations students, act as a personal tutor and co-supervise research students. They will be expected to take on an administrative role appropriate to the level of appointment. They will be expected to publish high-quality outputs, gain grants, and engage in impact activity or public engagement.

You should apply if

you have: expertise in social policy; an ability to teach across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes; demonstrable experience of delivering high-quality lectures and seminars in a university context; the ability to carry out academic administrative duties effectively; excellent written and oral communication skills; a research profile that extends and enhances our current research; the ability to produce high-quality publications; and the ability to gain external research funding.
