The University of Wisconsin-Madison (UW) is recruiting for an academic neuropathologist on the tenure track. The candidate will be appointed in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine with 5/8ths funding available from the William S. Middleton Veteran's Administration Hospital (VA). Candidates must be board certified in anatomic pathology or AP/CP as well as board eligible in neuropathology and qualified for unrestricted licensure for the practice of medicine in Wisconsin.

Principal Duties:

The University of Wisconsin-Madison (UW) is recruiting for an academic neuropathologist on the tenure track. The candidate will be appointed in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine with 5/8ths funding available from the William S. Middleton Veteran's Administration Hospital (VA). Candidates must be board certified in anatomic pathology or AP/CP as well as board eligible in neuropathology and qualified for unrestricted licensure for the practice of medicine in Wisconsin.

Candidates will possess a record of scholarly achievement in the field of neurodegenerative disorders appropriate to the rank of Assistant/Associate/Full Professor (tenure track). The University of Wisconsin Medical Center is a tertiary care center with state of the art neuro-imaging, neurology and neurological surgery programs. The successful applicant will be expected to continue or develop a research program commensurate with a tenure track appointment in the area of neurodegenerative diseases, preferably in the area of neurobiology of Alzheimer's disease, and to mentor graduate students. The successful applicant will possess neuropathology clinical expertise in surgical pathology as well as autopsy pathology, contribute actively to the teaching of residents, fellows and medical students, mentor trainees, participate in continuing medical education programs and engage in scholarly research. Graduate student training opportunities are available in the department Cellular & Molecular Pathology program and the neuroscience training program. Due to the VA appointment, the successful candidate will be eligible for VA merit review grant funding. The successful candidate will dedicate significant effort to the NIA-funded Wisconsin Alzheimer's Disease Research Center (ADRC) and will lead the ADRC Neuropathology Core which provides numerous opportunities for collaboration. Salary will be competitive and commensurate with experience. University and community service is expected as appropriate.

Degree and Area of Specialization:

Qualified candidates should possess an MD or MD/PhD and be board certified in anatomic pathology or AP/CP as well as neuropathology board eligible.

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:

Candidates will have a record of scholarly achievement appropriate to the rank of Assistant/Associate/Full Professor (tenure track). Candidates must meet criteria for appointment at rank per UW School of Medicine and Public Health guidelines for appointment and promotion on the tenure track.

License or Certificate:

Eligible for unrestricted State of Wisconsin medical license. Licensure will be required for successful candidate.
