The [Helen and Arthur E. Johnson Beth-El College of Nursing and Health Sciences ](https://johnsonbethel.uccs.edu/)invites applications for an Instructor - Sports Nutrition. This position is designated as a 9-month appointment set to begin August 2022. This instructor is expected to teach approximately 18 credit hours of undergraduate and/or graduate-level courses in nutrition for exercise and sport each academic year (lectures and labs); work with partnering organizations in building sport nutrition services; mentor undergraduate and graduate students in and outside of the classroom, engage with partner organizations; participate in both internal and external professional service activities; and demonstrate collaborative interests and collegiality in all aspects of university and community engagement. Candidates with expertise in the areas of nutrition, exercise science, sports performance and other affiliated fields, such as Strength and Conditioning or Athletic Training are encouraged to apply. Applicants should possess good interpersonal and communication skills, including proficiency in English.The Department of Human Physiology and Nutrition program is a new academic unit in the Helen and Arthur E. Johnson Beth-El College of Nursing and Health Sciences, that merges expertise in human anatomy, physiology, nutrition, and exercise science. The Department administers programs in Human Physiology and Nutrition (BS), Exercise Science (BS), Applied Physiology (MSc), Nutrition and Dietetics (MSc), and Sports Nutrition (MSc). The Department of Human Physiology and Nutrition is housed in the new William J Hybl Sports Medicine and Performance Center (Hybl Center; [https://www.hyblcenter.org](https://www.hyblcenter.org)). This state-of-the-art facility is designed to promote a multi-disciplinary and highly collaborative approach to education, research and clinical practice, driven by teamwork and a passion for translating research into real-world solutions. It promotes the concept of "Exercise and Nutrition as Medicine" for patients with various diseases and/or disorders. This project benefits from a close partnership between UCCS and Penrose/St. Francis-Centura Health that brings together a unique and unparalleled combination of clinical practice, undergraduate and graduate education, combined with clinical, faculty and student research. The benefits are numerous, including dedicated space specifically designed to foster collaboration in this first-of-its-kind facility. Qualifications
Mi*nimum Requirements:*Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist (RD/RDN)Master's degree in nutrition, exercise physiology or closely related fieldPreferred Requirements:Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics (CSSD) or able to pass the exam within 1 year of start date1 year or more of practical experience in collegiate, professional, tactical, or elite sports1 or more academic terms of teaching experienceCertified Specialist in Strength and Conditioning or Certified Athletic Trainer*Physical Requirements:*While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to move. Employee is occasionally required to have long periods of sitting, moderate bending, moderate energy requirements and fine motor skills. Talking and hearing within normal range. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
