The School of Mathematical and Natural Sciences at Arizona State University invites applications for a full-time, benefits-eligible Assistant/Associate/Full, Tenured/Tenure Track faculty position in Applied Computing with primary research areas in cybersecurity, database systems, or artificial intelligence. This position will begin in August 2022. Successful candidates are expected to establish a vigorous, externally-funded program of research in Computer Science; to deliver quality undergraduate instruction in Applied Computing; and to contribute service to the school, college, university and the profession. The School of Mathematical and Natural Sciences, New College of Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences ( at Arizona State University, is an interdisciplinary mathematical and natural sciences unit that encompasses computing, statistics, mathematics, biology, chemistry, forensics, and physics; it prides itself in interdisciplinary collaborations among these research areas. Essential Functions of the Position:

The individual filling this position is expected to establish a vigorous, externally-funded program of research in Computer Science with emphasis in cybersecurity, database systems, or artificial intelligence; to deliver quality instruction in Applied Computing; and to contribute service to the school, college, university and the profession.


Required Qualifications:
  • PhD. in Computer Science or a related field, by time of appointment;
  • Evidence of an on-going research program in cybersecurity, database systems, or artificial intelligence and a record of publication and commitment to securing external grant funding consistent with candidate's experience;
  • Commitment and ability to work with a diverse student population.

Desired Qualifications:
  • Evidence of potential to enhance and span the current expertise in cybersecurity, database systems, networking, or other areas of research in the School of Mathematical and Natural Sciences;
  • Evidence of computer science expertise to teach core undergraduate computer science courses in the Applied Computing program and advanced cybersecurity, database systems, or networking courses;
  • Evidence of successful college/university teaching and course development experience;
  • Interest in establishing interdisciplinary research programs;
  • Practice guiding undergraduates in research and student mentorship;
  • Established collaborations with industry partners.
  • Externally funded program of research.
  • Demonstrated record of working successfully with a diverse student population, including first-generation college students.
