Assistant Professor - Art TeachingProposed Faculty Rank Assistant Professor Department 00074 - Art/Art History Department City Salt Lake City, UT Track Tenure Track New Position to Begin 07/01/2022 Details The Department of Art & Art History at the University of Utah invites applicants for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor in Art Teaching commencing in fall 2022. The qualified applicant will hold a Ph.D. in Art Education, an MFA, or equivalent qualification in a related subject area. They will have K-12 and college/university teaching experience, an active research agenda, and will be well-versed in contemporary pedagogical issues and practices related to school-based art teaching. We are particularly interested in a colleague whose work contributes to increasing the diversity of the department's intellectual, artistic and/or pedagogical views and offerings. We encourage applicants whose teaching and research demonstrates interdisciplinary perspectives and a commitment to social justice.

The Art Teaching area is committed to using critical inquiry, experiential education, community engaged learning, and pedagogical experimentation to prepare school- and community-based teaching artists who embrace diversity and are able to teach 21st century skills such as: creativity and innovation, critical thinking and problem solving, collaboration, cross-cultural skills, flexibility and adaptation, global awareness, and media literacy.
