Western Michigan University invites applications for the position of tenure track Assistant or Associate Professor to join our Industrial Organizational Behavior Management program in the Department of Psychology. The program is proud of its 40-year history in applying behavior analysis to workplace settings and is looking for qualified candidates who are interested in contributing to the future success of the department to further our quest for continuous quality improvement. This program is part of a 50-year legacy of behavior analysis within the Department of Psychology. Our faculty train masters and doctoral-level practitioners, scholars, and leaders in the field of organizational behavior management (OBM) and evidence-based environmental-change strategies. Our goal is to find candidates who have interest in and can contribute to the highest quality in training for the next generation of OBM professionals and scholars. Many areas of teaching and scholarly activities could contribute to this goal. We welcome applications from candidates with expertise in a variety of research areas that fit a practitioner-training model.

Major Responsibilities:

• Develop in-person, online, and blended courses related to organizational behavior management at the graduate level
• Contribute to curricular innovations that complement the needs of the Industrial Organizational Behavior Management program
• Chair and serve on thesis and dissertation committees
• Advise/mentor graduate students, teach undergraduate and graduate courses, supervise practicum, and conduct research
• Develop a productive line of research as evidenced by high quality peer-reviewed publications
• Provide appropriate service to the department, college and university

Minimum Qualifications

• Evidence of commitment to diversity, inclusion, and equity through publications, teaching, and/or service in applied or academic settings
• A doctoral degree in behavior analysis, psychology, or a related discipline awarded by August 20, 2022.
• Knowledge of a radical behaviorism philosophy demonstrated through peer-reviewed publications

Preferred Qualifications

• Research experience and scholarly publications, particularly those related to organizational behavior management and building inclusive environments
• Experience supervising or mentoring undergraduate or graduate level projects, theses, or dissertations
• Experience teaching and designing courses in organizational behavior management, behavior analysis, and psychology at the undergraduate and graduate levels, in-person, online and/or blended
• Record of building and maintaining successful community and corporate partnerships

Department: The Psychology Department includes 13 full-time faculty members. The department offers a comprehensive undergraduate program with over 700 majors and 500 minors, as well as over 150 graduate students. Renowned for its behavioral orientation, the department offers master's degrees in behavior analysis (accredited by the Association for Behavior Analysis), as well as doctoral degrees in behavior analysis (accredited by the Association for Behavior Analysis International), clinical psychology (accredited by the American Psychological Association, next site visit 2027), and industrial organizational behavior management. Faculty in the department have been tremendously successful in attracting support from external grants and contracts, with $1.3 million awarded in FY20-21 alone. Kalamazoo: Kalamazoo is located only two and a half hours by car from Chicago and Detroit and only 45 minutes from the beaches of Lake Michigan.
