Who We Are:

Join the Space Science and Engineering Division to pursue applied solar dynamo research, including solar cycle prediction and magnetic flux transport to augment the existing Boulder Heliophysics team.

Objectives of this Role:
  • Carry out applied solar dynamo research, on both long-term (solar cycle understanding and prediction) and short-term (active region formation and evolution) scales; with an emphasis on understanding the origins of solar impact on Earth (space weather and related effects).
  • Collaborate with existing members of the SwRI/Boulder Heliophysics team, to help understand the magnetic origins (in the solar interior) of solar wind and space weather effects (in the corona and heliosphere).

Daily and Monthly Responsibilities:
  • Manage a coherent independent research program in applied solar dynamo topics, including seeking and maintaining continued funding.
  • Collaborate with existing members of the Heliophysics Research team where relevant
  • Assist with the hiring and support of other scientists as necessary to accomplish program goals.
  • Publish results in refereed scientific journals.
  • Present results at scientific conferences as relevant.
  • Engage in scientific outreach and/or public communications as relevant, to convey research results to the public.

Requirements:
  • Requires a PhD with a 3.00 GPA in Physics, Astronomy, or related field with related experience
  • 5 years: post-Ph.D. research experience in solar physics and/or applied solar dynamo physics

Work assignment is in Boulder, Colorado.

Job Locations: Boulder, Colorado

Salary Range: $81,494.00 - $135,845.00
