OVERVIEW:
The Operations and Supply Chain Management Department at the University of St. Thomas Opus College of Business invites applications for a full-time, clinical faculty position in business analytics and operations management, beginning in September 2021. Clinical appointments will be without tenure and are not tenure-track appointments. Primary duties of the position include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in business analytics and supply chain management, active engagement with the analytics profession and industry, and service to the college and university.The Opus College of Business is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business International. The college offers a Master of Science in Business Analytics, a joint degree program with Graduate Programs in Software in the College of Engineering that has over 150 students. The college also offers a graduate certificate in business analytics that can be taken as a stand-alone option or as part of an MBA program. The college has a growing, interdisciplinary minor in Data Analytics in collaboration with departments from the College of Arts & Sciences and a new undergraduate co-concentration in business analytics. The department offers its own concentration in operations management and teaches undergraduate and graduate core courses in operations management and statistics. QUALIFICATIONS:
At a minimum, qualifications include (1) M.B.A. or Masters degree in statistics, operations management, business analytics or another closely related field (U.S. or foreign equivalent); (2) prior experience or demonstrated ability to teach in an educational institution or corporate/executive setting; and (3) five years of corporate/industry experience and demonstrated expertise in analytics and/or supply chain management. Applicants must demonstrate a strong commitment to excellence in teaching and in engaging in service to the Operations and Supply Chain Management Department, the Opus College of Business, and the University of St. Thomas.The successful candidate must be willing and able to teach graduate and undergraduate courses in business analytics and operations management. We are interested in candidates who have a demonstrated commitment to providing leadership in teaching, professional engagement, or service toward building an equitable and diverse academic environment.Significant industry experience in business analytics, operations management and/or information systems is essential. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in R, Python, Tableau, Alteryx, SQL, and/or Power BI. A demonstrated interest in emerging technologies including artificial intelligence, Blockchain, robotics, the Internet of Things is also preferred.Candidates should show strong promise to contribute to the intellectual and practical lives of students and other stakeholders and to remain current in the field through professional practice, content creation, and engagement with the local business community.
