The Department of History at Tulane University is seeking a tenure-track Assistant Professor in the History of the Middle East/Islamic World, starting July 2022. This position will be held jointly with the Tulane Program in Middle East and North African Studies (MENA). The successful candidate will join a vibrant cohort of scholars and contribute to the growth of our MENA program, which is conducting a cluster hire of three new interdisciplinary tenure-line positions this year. The field of research is open, teaching experience preferred. Candidates should have a working knowledge of at least one language appropriate for research in the Middle East and/or Islamic World and should be prepared to offer classes in both the History of the Modern Middle East and the Premodern Islamic World..
