*Description of primary duties and responsibilities::*The Department of Chemistry, Physics, & Materials Science at Fayetteville State University (FSU) is seeking an outstanding applicant for a *Tenure-Track Assistant Professor *of Physics, with experience in Condensed Matter/Materials Physics or a closely related field to begin in the *Fall of 2022.* Accredited by the American Chemical Society, the Department offers a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degrees in Chemistry, with six concentrations in General Chemistry, Materials Science, Biochemistry, Pre-Health, Pre-Pharmacy, and Chemical Entrepreneurship, as well as academic minors in Chemistry, Physics, and Materials Science. The Department operates a Planetarium, Observatory, Southeastern North Carolina Regional Microanalytical and Imaging Consortium (SENCR-MIC) and Interdisciplinary Materials Research and Education Laboratory (IMREL), and the Core Instrument Facility, which are equipped with many state-of-the-art analytical instruments, such as field-emission electron microprobe, scanning electron microscope, atomic force microscope, X-ray diffractometer, UV-Vis, Raman, fluorescence, FTIR, NMR, HPLC-MS/MS, GC/MS/MS, CE, and ICP-OES.
*Description of Work Continued::*Preference will be given to a candidate who can demonstrate successful teaching experience at the undergraduate level and ability to integrate technology/software with teaching. Ability to teach students from diverse academic backgrounds is critical. The successful candidate is expected to build a research program that involves mentoring undergraduate students, preferably in Condensed-Matter or Materials Physics, and being able to develop research collaborations with colleagues in the Department. In addition, the successful candidate will be required to participate in departmental, college, university, and community service activities.
*Minimum Education and Experience Requirements::*Candidate must hold a Ph.D. in Physics, Materials Science, or a closely related field with 18 credit hours of physics courses at the graduate level.
*Preferred Qualifications::*Demonstrate successful teaching experience at the undergraduate level and ability to integrate technology/software with teaching.
