What You Will Achieve

BioMedicine Design of Pfizer Inc. is seeking a highly motivated Hybridoma Scientist in La Jolla, CA. This Scientist level position will directly contribute towards our efforts for discovery of monoclonal antibodies using hybridoma technologies. The candidate will support different antibody discovery programs while utilizing a broad range of immunology, molecular biology and cell biology-based techniques. The duties of the job include experimental design and execution, analysis and interpretation of data, and presentation of results to the research team. This position will be exposed to the state of art technology in single-cell analysis, NGS sequencing and the advanced automation system.

How You Will Achieve

Primary responsibilities include but not limited to:
  • Execute on all stages of experiments to generate monoclonal antibodies through hybridoma technology, including animal immunizations, serum titer tracking, and suspension splenocytes preparation, hybridoma fusion and screening, and candidate identification.
  • Sequence the VH and VL of hybridoma hits, analyze antibody diversity and choose representative clones for recombinant production.
  • Trouble-shoot and optimize protocols and propose creative solutions to improve efficiency to existing processes.
  • Interpret and summarize experimental data. Participate in the evaluation of new methods or technologies.
  • Maintain detailed records of all experiments in ELN and use in-house. databases and tracking systems in a detailed and descriptive manner.


Qualifications

Must-Have
  • BA/Bs with 6+ years OR MS in biological sciences with over 3+ years antibody-related experience in an industrial setup.
  • Knowledge in B cell biology and antibody generation process.
  • Experience with hybridoma technology including hands-on-skills in the performance of fusions as well as downstream screening and characterization activities for generation of monoclonal antibodies in mice and hamsters.
  • Familiarity with dosing animals, serum collection and titer test.


Nice-to-Have
  • Experience in DNA-based immunization.
  • Experience with antibody VH/VL sequencing and cloning for hybridoma hits NGS based high throughput sequencing.
  • Extensive experience with multiple antibody screening assays and analysis, such as ELISA and FACS. Experience with cell sorting, liquid handling, and automation.
  • Good organizational skills, with scientific rigor and critical thinking.
